The 38th Annual Ware Fireworks Display - Saturday November 7th 2009
The 2009 Ware Fireworks Display took place on Saturday 7th November in its usual venue on the corner of High Oak Road and Kingsway. It was organised once again by the three Rotary Clubs that meet in Ware – Ware, Amwell and Hertford Shires.
This very popular event, now in its 38th year, attracts several thousand people from the local area, who come to enjoy a traditional bonfire accompanied by a spectacular display of fireworks. Careful planning and plenty of marshals help to ensure that everyone, young and old alike, have a safe and enjoyable evening.
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is the principal sponsor of the event, with additional support from the Mercury Newspaper, as well as a new sponsor this year in Moffat Saunders, a local Insurance Broker. As in previous years, the Marriott Hanbury Manor Hotel donated a free overnight stay for two as the prize for the lucky number draw which everyone attending was automatically entered into. As well as entertaining the local community, the event raises substantial sums for local charities supported by the three Rotary Clubs such as Herts Aid, Herts Air Ambulance, Isabel Hospice and Keech Cottage Childrens’ Hospice for example. Last year, a cheque for £2000 was presented to Suzanne Bannister from Herts Aid.
