Funding for Water Wells in Belgaum, India

Amwell Rotary Club was Chartered in September 1980 and, whilst we always look to the future, we are also very proud of our achievements, large and small, over the past twenty nine years. With that it mind, we have added this page to highlight some of our major success stories. Using old photographs, club minutes and reminiscences from Amwell Rotary Club members and friends, we hope to present an occasional series of updates detailing important moments from our past.

We start with a Club initiative from 1995 - 1996, a Matching Grant Project with the Rotary Club of Belgaum South to provide water wells in Belgaum, India. Amwell Rotarian and Past President Geoff Williamson was very much a driving force behind this project but he sadly passed away just as the project was coming to fruition. It is therefore most fitting that the water wells are dedicated to his memory and that they carry an inscription plate marking his part in their completion.

1996/1997 Club President Glyn Parry was able to visit Belgaum for the official opening ceremony and we have a few scanned photographs from his trip.
