Community & Vocational Service - The Heartbeat of Rotary

Amwell Rotary Club undertake various Community Service projects each year.

These range from ongoing commitments to local self help groups through to new commitments aimed at giving help and assistance to those in any kind of need in our local community.

We have supported Vale House in Hertford in the work they do to treat both drug and alcohol dependence. Through a matching grant from the Rotary Foundation we were able to refurbish a therapy room.

As part of a joint initiative with our colleagues in Ware Rotary and Hertford Shires Rotary, we take part in an annual "Lend a Hand Day" initiative in Ware, offering to complete small household tasks for the elderly or disabled free of charge. We have also undertaken work at Deerfield in Ware and join with colleagues from the Ware and Hertford Shires to organise a "Stroke Awareness" day each year.

Along with other Rotary Clubs in RIBI, we took part in the 2009 Kids Out event, taking a party of school children to Whipsnade Zoo.

Amwell Rotary Club also have a long association with the Hoddesdon Organisation for Local Disabled, regularly providing refreshments for one of their monthly social meetings.

Future Plans and Fundraising Activities

The Rotary Year runs from July 1st to June 30th and we have several plans for things we would still like to do this Rotary year.

In all that we do, we remain most grateful for the continued help and support we receive from a great many members of the public.

Our sincere thanks to you all!
